Subaru BRZ

There has been much anticipation surrounding the release of the Subaru BRZ.  Good looks, good performance, potential to mod, and all wrapped up in a relatively affordable price…what’s not to like?  To be honest, I think the sport compact scene has needed a project like this to spark new interest.  Check out this photoshopped BRZ.  I’m such a sucker for anything with TE37s.

SEMA 2011

Well, SEMA 2011 has come and gone.  Sometimes known as the Mecca of automotive trade shows, SEMA proved to be as big as ever.  I heard a rumor that head count for attendees was up over 40,000 people from last year.  I hope that number is true, we all know the automotive industry could use the push.  That being said, I’m glad I survived the grueling week.  It has literally taken me 5 days to detox and actually talk about the show.  I have to admit, I still semi cringe when I think about last week…and no, unfortunately I won’t be sharing any juicy stories here on my blog.  If you care to see what it is like, I invite you to join me next year for SEMA 2012.  SEMA is always the first week of November, so mark your calendars and come thirsty.

PS – Mike, as promised, I started posting frequently again for your entertainment! (I had a few complaints that I wasn’t posting enough, but my friend Mike fired up his laptop just to show me my blog was on his home screen to convince me to stop being lazy and post!  So here I am.)

PS2 – I have no idea who booth 32203 is, I just snagged the SEMA logo off Google images because it was convenient.

TRAPPED!!!

The guys were coming back from the recent West Palm Beach, FL drift event when their flight in Texas was canceled and they got stuck in an airport.  What do you get when you trap two creative and skilled photographers with a large amount of time to kill?  An amazing video that has been spreading like wildfire!

PCar Thuggin’

While the Porsche tuning world is far from being a “new” segment, I think it’s safe to say, few companies/people have rocked the foundation and image of Porsches as quickly and as hard as RAUH-Welt.  There’s a fine line to dance when modding a car, what to change and “improve” and what to respect and keep original.  RAUH-Welt continues to build tasteful Porsches on steroids!  While I can’t say any names, I can say that the US will probably see some monster Porsche builds state side in the next few years.  Expect the unexpected, as I know of a few people working on some behind the scenes builds.

Still one of my favorite cars of all time.  The McLaren F1…pure concentrate.

Fun Fact: Gordan Murray, the designer of the McLaren F1 originally approached Honda to produce a high output v12.  The then new NSX was used by Murray as a benchmark of design and function when he went to the drawing boards for the F1.  Honda turned down Murray’s request, and BMW eventually stepped up to the plate to produce the 627hp V12.
