Get Off The Wagon

16 04 2012

To all you self proclaimed car experts, and home study engineers, please do your proper research before voicing your opinion on the internet.  Yes, far too many modified vehicles use  rear spoilers that serve little to no function to a vehicle’s performance, but that doesn’t mean EVERY spoiler on EVERY vehicle serves no function.  I hate it when a group of people get together and just jump to conclusions.  “Car looks ok, but what’s up with that spoiler, it needs to be removed NOW”.  News flash, depending on what the vehicle was built to do and the driving characteristics of the car itself, spoilers do serve a purpose!  Aggressive spoiler does not automatically equal ricer.  Please, brush up on your knowledge, because only you look foolish when you question a wind tunnel designed chassis.  Thank you.

GRILLS

3 02 2012

Some might see a couple millions dollars worth of cars in this picture, others might see a couple thousand horsepower…I see a bunch of  busted grills.  Sorry, as much of an engineering marvel the Veyron is, I still feel like it’s an overpowered brick with rounded edges.  To each his own though.

HANNA

4 12 2011

I remember seeing the preview of this movie and wanting to watch it when it came out, but as usual, my travel schedule picked up and I lost track of things.  I had a rare night at home last night, and for some reason the movie popped into my head so I decided to watch it.  I honestly think this movie has been slept on.  I remember critics giving it poor reviews while it was in the theater…this movie once again reaffirms my decision that I don’t trust so called critics.  Ok sure, it doesn’t have Academy Award level acting, and it doesn’t feature mind blowing special effects, but the story and the action was enough to keep me thoroughly entertained for almost 2 hours.  At the end of the day, isn’t that what we’re all looking for anyway?  But yea, if you like the lay low for years, and come back for revenge type flick with some good twists, check out Hanna.

Favorite line from the movie:  Adapt or die.

1 Percenters

Yea these guys are as ruthless as the 1% bike gangs.  I wouldn’t cross either one of them, resistance is futile.  You cannot confront them outright, you must get the system on your side…until then, you’re just wasting your time.

Failure

14 11 2011

As much as the words “fail” and “failure” are abused in the internet world, I just couldn’t think of a more suitable description of the below scenario.

While there is much heated debate over the conditions that led to the resulting accident…all I can say is…I’ve never seen a Volk deteriorate to such a state.  Wheels and tires are the only thing keeping your car planted to the ground.  It adversely affects your braking, acceleration, traction and fuel mileage.  Keep that in mind the next time you decide to pinch those pennies.

I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell

10 11 2011

In an effort to pack light, I neglected to bring a book on one of my recent business trips.  Although I listen to my iPod most of the time on the plane, every now and then I still enjoy a good reading session while on the road.  I had some time before my flight, so I stopped into one of the airport bookstores and this book caught my attention.  The true life stories and adventures of a guy named Tucker Max.  I just finished the book yesterday, it was a quick light read, full of interesting almost unbelievable stories.  Overall I liked the book, it definitely kept me entertained, I just wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who is easily offended in any way or manner…or if you have a weak stomach.  Let’s put it this way, Tucker Max is a self proclaimed “asshole”.  He knows it, he’s proud of it, and he lives his life with no shame because he warns people of his personality shortly before he ruins their lives.  I must say, my lifestyle is on the opposite side of the spectrum, but it’s definitely interesting to see the world from the other side…through the eyes of the wreckless and careless, there is something to be learned from everyone.

Dumped

7 11 2011

It never ceases to amaze me how low some guys go on their cars.  If this guy is on static suspension, even more props.

On another note, I’ve never said it before, but I’m a little sad to see where the 370z is going.  It’s not that I’m not a fan of the car, I definitely am, it’s just I feel like it’s going down the same dangerous path of the 300ZX.  I feel like pretty soon, the Z family will again be priced out of the market of their true target demographic and sales will drop to a point that Nissan will have to kill off production.  How many 370z’s do you see out on the road compared to the 350z?  Nissan, drop the price on the future Z’s, the market will not accept a higher price point on that car…especially when used GTR prices continue to drop.  Just my 2 cents.

Puss In Boots

7 11 2011

Yes, I know what you’re probably thinking.  Seriously?..Puss & Boots?  Going into it, I wasn’t sure how I felt about this new spin off of the character from Shrek.  But, honestly, I was pleasantly surprised by the movie.  It was both witty, and entertaining almost every scene of the movie.  It actually reminded me a lot of the first Shrek. lots of humor for the adults, and just enough kid stuff to keep the younger ones entertained as well.  Yes, believe it or not, I’m giving Puss & Boots two thumbs up!

ps – It didn’t hurt that the movie screening was part of a VIP Paramount Studios event, complete with breakfast and complimentary snacks and drinks!
